There comes a time when every woman says to herself: I need a car that’s as sexy as I am. A vehicle that can get the job done while looking really hot. A car that’s fast and smooth and hugs all the curves. Women and cars. We’re dark horses. Everyone thinks loving these big iron machines is a male purview. But it’s not.
We hate to get all serious with numbers, but did you know that we purchase 65% of all new cars? In case you need help with your math, that’s more than half. So Hey Car Makers, make driving an experience we look forward to. Here’s what we need: a car that satisfies what we’re looking for: a great drive that’s grown-up enough to be responsible, yet fun, sleek and clean, and of course, loaded with amenities. Like a spa on wheels, only way faster.
Guess what? Toyota was listening. Because the bold new Camry has got it going on. Redesigned bumper-to-bumper for 2015, this sophisticated, and let’s face it, totally hot car, is where it’s at. Available in six models, including the refined Camry LE, the sophisticated and sporty Camry SE, and the stylishly equipped XLE V6, there’s one for everyone.
Brazen Review: The 2016 Toyota Camry
We took the Camry XLE V6 out for a week to see how it moved us around. Our verdict? Totally brazen. Not to be superficial, but this car is sex on wheels.
Take a walk-around. Just like the men we lust after, this car has a wide athletic stance while still remaining lean and striking. The smooth and luxurious leather seats cradle both front and back in superior comfort. Oh, and there’s lots of leg room in back for when you’re designated driver on the all-important Girls Night’s Out. The driver’s side fits like the perfect pair of shoes with an 8-way power adjustable seat and a front passenger with 4-way adjustable seating. Essentials like an easy-to-read dashboard, steering wheel controls, large buttons on the centre console, sunroof, heated front seats, dual zone climate control, and a roomy trunk with enough space to pack up for a weekend getaway or a big liquor store run, make the car practical too.
Now we can’t talk practical without talking safety. All 2015 Camry models come standard with the six active safety technologies of Toyota’s Star Safety System: anti-lock brake system, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control and Smart Stop Technology. Combined, these features help drivers avoid accidents, and make the 2015 Toyota Camry an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
We pressed the ignition button and cranked the tunes. Because obviously, every great drive is powered by even better music. The 10-speaker JBL 7″ audio display system with integrated Sirius XM and satellite radio surrounded us. We could hear our 80s on 8 perfectly because this baby is quiet. (We did wonder if the smooth ride was even powered by an engine.) The fast and efficient 268 horsepower 3.5L V6 engine is powerful while being so gas efficient that it kept our inner gas miser happy.
Premium navigation system with steering wheel controls and easy-to-use, intuitive interface. Bonus: the GPS actually recognizes a woman’s voice and takes us where we want to go the first time we ask.
In-console wireless charging system that charges compatible smart devices when placed on the non-slip surface of the Qi wireless charging pad. Bonus: the charging area is enclosed by a little trap door so you can lock away your phone and not be tempted to text and drive.
Keyless ignition. Bonus: You won’t ruin your new manicure by hunting for your keys that are obviously at the bottom of your purse. Dashboard reminders and notifications. Bonus: Never lock your keys in the car again. Never leave your sunroof open overnight again. Never leave your car in drive and get out again.
It’s well-priced and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Bonus: Live the luxe life on your budget.
Look. You spend a lot of time—maybe too much—in your vehicle. You may as well enjoy it. We’re not car experts, but we know what we like and what feels fabulous to drive. So that’s really the reason that the 2015 Camry XLE V6 gets the #BrazenLoves hashtag of approval.
If you’re looking for a new car, put this one on your list. Just know this: If you take it for a test drive, you might not bring it back.
