BEST PLACE TO ENJOY ITALIAN
You’ll know you’ve found this gem of a restaurant when you see the bikes parked conveniently out front. It’s right on the water in an outdoor mall of cafes and shops, and if you’re lucky, you can snag a free parking spot right in front.
The inside is just what the website promises: a relaxed, come-as-you-are feel, in an atmosphere that blends Old School style with New School attitude. The menu boasts modern takes on old classics for lunch or supper and the wine bar offers just about anything you’d want.
What we love most, though, is what we should love most: the food. In every dish, you can taste the Italian soul of the owners and husband and wife team, Stephanie and Maurizio Bertossi. Here, they stay true to their motto, making everything by hand, caring about every detail, loving food with a passion, and serving it with style. Whatever you order, it’s stellar.
Need somewhere to celebrate? We’ve found your spot. At da Maurizio, attention to detail is paramount. Dining at this Northern Italian restaurant is not just about the food—although the food is so meticulously prepared it has won awards. What’s wonderful about this place is the whole dining experience, from the second you step into the intimate, upscale resto until you say good night.
Owned and run by husband and wife team Andrew and Tanya King, the staff here is personally invested in making your big night out one to remember. Born in the UK, Andrew has made cooking his profession. He has had the good fortune of working with great chefs both in Canada and internationally and took over da Maurizio from local legend and founder, Maurizio Bertossi.
Treat yourself to some culinary delicacies such as the excellent seared foie gras, veal scaloppine sautéed with lobster in a garlic-cognac sauce, and your favourite bottle of Italian red. You deserve it all.
