Another benefit of Spring (we just can’t stop) – we’re shopping outdoors at fruit markets. This month, we’ve got three great reasons to inspire your grocery list and they all start with these words: Cheers to mixing fresh fruits and veggies into our cocktails! What? Who said drinking up isn’t healthy? This season, we name vodka our spirit of choice. In fact, we’ve got a vodka love affair going on – or maybe more of a Spring Cocktail Fling featuring our favourite Polish mixer.
We can’t resist the cool, clear jolt that allows the taste of fresh fruits and veggies to shine right through. So how do you mix your Spring vodka fling? We’ve shaken up three inspirational cocktails (plus three extras) to lead you out of hibernation and straight into the warmth.
Cocktail Tip: If you’ve got a taste for the sweet and savoury, try these recipes with Wódka Żołądkowa Gorzka. Prefer your vodka crisp, clear and versatile? Wyborowa Exquisite is the way to go.
3 SPRING VODKA COCKTAIL FLINGS
The Sunshine Martini Nothing screams sunshine like a glass of freshly squeezed OJ.
Add to an ice-filled shaker:
- A squeeze of lime
- 2 oz of fresh orange juice
- A dash of cinnamon
Top up with 2 oz of Wódka Żołądkowa Gorzka and give it a good shake before pouring into a martini glass. Get fancy and decorate your glass with some dried orange slices. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top and get ready to sip.
That Jammin’ Cocktail
Into canning and jamming? Great news: Jams (strawberry, blueberry, rhubarb!) are fantabulous in cocktails!
All you do is:
- Muddle up two tablespoons of your jam
- Add 2 oz of some fine Polish vodka
- Top it up with some 7up or soda
A lot depends on your sweet tooth. For sweeter jams, use soda and a super premium vodka such at Wyborowa Exquisite. Have some fun with your garnish and enjoy the extra pulp if your jam has chunks of fruit! We garnished our strawberry jam cocktail with some candied ginger but a basil leaf was a strong contender.
My Green Green Jar If you have a green thumb, get ready for this cocktail to help you get the most out of Mother Earth.
The recipe is easy:
- Muddle four slices of cucumber
- 2 oz of Wódka Żołądkowa Gorzka
- 2 oz of lime juice
Next, add an ounce of simple syrup and swirl it all around. Then strain the mixture into a mason jar and top it with soda. Garnish with cucumber slices or a sprig of dill from your garden.
