For a girls’ vacay, we’re partial to a boutique hotel where every time you come through the doors, you get that friendly Welcome Home feel. Boutique New York hotels have a smaller vibe, and that’s valuable. It’s as if you’ve got your own little bachelorette pad right in the city, rather than just stopping for a few nights in an anonymous chain hotel packed with tourists. Although there are boutique choices all over NYC—from SoHo to TriBeCa and everywhere in between and beyond—we love to stay midtown, where walking to shopping, shows and restaurants is easy. MIDTOWN BOUTIQUE NEW YORK HOTELS WE LOVE
Boutique New York Hotel 1: 50 NYC
We found a fantastic rate for the 50 NYC on Expedia.ca and the room didn’t disappoint. In fact, just by asking, we were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a suite that included two double beds and a pull-out sofa, giving us plenty of room for all our clothes and the accumulating number of NYC shopping scores. Lo and behold, there was also a separate kitchen, stocked with oven, sink and fridge—on the off-chance we couldn’t get reservations at every fantastic NYC resto on our list.
WHAT WE LOVED: 50 NYC is chic, small, newly renovated, and tucked away in a quiet spot in Midtown East. There are comfy open rooms to hang out in both in the lobby and on the second floor—where couches, coffee tables and computers abound. There’s also a big fitness room and a Club Room cocktail area where you’ll enjoy free wine every day between 5-6pm. Cheers, friends!
Boutique New York Hotel 2: THE LONDON NYC
We booked this hotel through Magellan Luxury Hotels on our last NYC stay after explaining just what we wanted: a suite with as much space as possible. And that’s just what we got. In fact, the suites at The London NYC are so roomy, we were tempted to move in for a month. The London Suite features a bedroom with a separate living area for drinks, nibbles and maybe even a little party with friends from down the hall.
WHAT WE LOVED: The London NYC is a full suite cosmopolitan hotel centrally near Fifth Avenue shopping and the Broadway theatres. The suites are what suites should be: huge, seriously huge—meaning starting at 500 square feet and just getting bigger from there. Plus, there’s a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and bar on the main floor. Yes, that Gordon Ramsay.
Boutique New York Hotel 3: THE BENJAMIN
The prices have gone up since we first stayed at the Benjamin but the $10 million renovation has succeeded in making this place feel like an upscale home. In the Studio Deluxe, you can look forward to a great night’s sleep in the signature fluffy Benjamin bed topped with a down duvet, and a menu of sleep amenities.
WHAT WE LOVED: When you stay at the Benjamin, you feel like a member of a private club. Everything just seems to be at your fingertips. The National restaurant serves modern bistro cuisine and if you need a blow dry or manicure or massage, you can book one at the onsite salon and spa. Or better yet, treat yourself to that mani and massage in-room. How’s that for pampering?
