Drum roll, please. Pantone’s colour of the year is out and you’ll soon see it everywhere. Here’s your heads up – it’s a gorgeous shade of purple you’ll want to wear.

So what is Pantone’s colour of the year anyway?

Known for its PMS (no, not that one, ladies), the New Jersey-based Pantone organization created the  Pantone Matching System, a standardized colour reproduction system that gathers world colour experts to choose an annual pick. Each year, the winning shade forms the basis for fashion designers, florists and other creatives. For all of us, it’s a point of inspiration – and one we’ll be seeing pop up in store windows and on shelves anytime now.
