CHERYL HICKEY’S TOP TRAVEL AND BEAUTY TIPS
The benefits of natural beauty products have always been very important to me. I’m extremely conscious of what goes on my skin. Avoiding synthetic chemicals that I can’t pronounce and choosing natural alternatives helps keep me healthy, and looking fabulous.
TIP 1: FEED YOUR HAIR Like most women, I’m really busy. So I use my time off to make sure I stay hydrated. On weekends, my hair gets a real treat with OURS 3-in-1 Hydrating Oil, which includes coconut oil and lavender. I put this yummy-smelling oil all over my hair and tie it up in a JLo-style bun. It’s practical and leaves my hair moisturized and ready to style.
TIP 2: SCRUB, SCRUB, SCRUB I always remember to exfoliate every other day. Using a natural exfoliator with hydrators, like shea butter, cocoa butter, cucumber and aloe vera keeps skin hydrated and smooth. OURS Face & Body Exfoliator is a natural choice.
TIP 3: TREAT YOUR FEET Before I go to sleep, I put Anything Balm on my feet and cover them with socks. Its natural oils and vitamins soften my tootsies and keep them soft. Anything Balm is my all-natural miracle balm (info below). Here’s a secret: I also dab a little on my cheeks to keep a dewy look on camera.
TIP 4: GET RETINOL In case you haven’t heard, retinal is a derivative of Vitamin A, and it’s been proven to help with anti-aging by softening the look of wrinkles. Don’t be afraid to use a little on your skin to give it a boost.
TIP 5: GO TO SLEEP It’s so obvious but we can’t forget how important sleep is to the body. Getting enough rest really is the most natural way to stay looking and feeling your best. To make your sleep even more fabulous, do as I do and slip some satin pillowcases onto your pillows. Diva moment!
Need a little help coaxing out your natural beauty? Don’t we all. Here are my beauty product secrets.
Elizabeth Grant Vitamin C Hydra-Moist Day Cream This is a wonderful hydrating cream rich in Vitamin C, which is an antioxidant that creates radiant looking skin. Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup This is the all-natural makeup line I use at home and on set. From foundation to eye shadows to lip gloss, I am obsessed because it’s non-toxic and works well with work-in-progress skin. The cream lip gloss will become your favourite fast.
OPI Nail Polish I love water-based nail polish, but sometimes they don’t last so I go with OPI. There are colours for every skin tone.
CHERYL’S TRAVEL MUST-HAVES – and why they’re must-haves
I’m always on the go, whether I’m visiting relatives to Los Angeles for a Hollywood red carpet. So naturally, over time, I’ve curated a few must-have travel products that I don’t go anywhere without. These products are all I need to keep me smiling on the go.
Hand Wipes I can’t go anywhere without antibacterial wipes because avoiding germs means that I can stay healthy. Yes, I wipe down the toilet seat and TV remote. I’m “that” girl!
Anything Balm OURS by Cheryl Hickey Anything Balm is so handy for pretty much anything that happens. It has a million and one uses: on my face, lips, hands and elbows. I know I’m going to dry out on airplanes so it’s a necessity in my carry-on.
Nasal Lubricant This extra lubricating lubricant catches germs and is ideal for cold prevention. I’m serious, it works. And if you don’t believe me, look it up!
Water Bottle Staying hydrated is paramount to looking and feeling your best. I constantly sip water with loads of lemon, and I drink green tea (great for anti-oxidants!). I always have my water bottle handy, especially on trips.
