1937762-goody-clean-radiance-oval-brush-primary-300x270What it is: Goody’s Clean Radiance brush—available in a wide oval or paddle—with copper bristles and an easy-to-hold handle.

What it does: Brings Grandma’s edict of 100 strokes a night to life. Meant to be used on dry hair, the copper bristles massage your scalp and work through the length to reduce build-up and restore hair’s natural moisture balance. The result? Happy shiny hair.

Why we love it: This brush glides right through hair. The flexible cushion pad means it’s comfortable on the scalp and the widely spaced bristles don’t pull or break hair. If you’ve got a flaky scalp or dandruff, this is the brush for you. Caveat: It’s not meant for styling, as the copper bristles can heat up. Looking for a more general use brush? Try Goody’s Ouchless brushes. They’re perfect for after shower detangling or for styling.

invisibobble_AroundtheWorld_Packaging-Single_Burgundy_Dream-300x300What it is: The Invisibobble Traceless hair ring. Otherwise known as your hair saviour.

What it does: Takes over from hair elastics and then some. Resembling your camp counsellor’s key ring, these little looping twirls of plastic will help to eliminate some of your most common ponytail traumas like headaches, hair breakage, split ends, and the kinks that result after you’ve had your hair up for a while.  It’s reusable, made of a smooth resin for even styling, and can be re-shaped by placing in hot water.

Why we love it: Now that we know hair elastics can wreck our locks, we’re Invisibobble addicts. These little things help you get your hair up high—into ponytails and buns—in a flash. Plus, you can wear them on your wrist and they’ll look cute instead of like hairy little rings of torture.

Available at salons, stylists, and beauty shops. Visit invisibobble, price varies.

Pro-Fiber-range-shot What it is:

L’Oréal Professionnel PRO FIBER is the first in-salon treatment whose effects can be maintained and even boosted with at-home washing. It’s a line includes a treatment plus shampoos, conditioners, hair masques, and boosters. There are three levels of product—Revive, Restore and Recover—depending on the condition of your hair.

What it does: Unlike typical in-salon moisturizing treatments and other hair products, the PRO FIBER treats the hair from both inside and outside the hair shaft, helping to add moisture and nutrition as well as smoothing the cuticle. L’Oréal Professionnel spent years in research and development and gained patents for their Aptyl 100 molecular complex (sounds official, right?) that actually bonds to the hair at the salon and isn’t washed away at home (when accompanying products are used.)

Why we love it: First, it’s personal. The stylist performs a hair assessment to determine which treatment level you need, and then you sign up for email updates that remind you about maintenance. The treatment only takes five minutes and when you’re all washed and styled, you get the instant gratification of gorgeous, healthy hair. The best part? The home component. No more washing your cash down the drain with salon moisture treatments that wash out the second you soap up again. Caveat: the product contains sulfates and while it’s suitable for colour-treated hair (and may even help your colour last longer), it won’t work with your keratin treatment.

HW-SIREN-WAVES-copy-104x300What it is: Tecni. Art Hollywood Waves Siren Waves by L’Oréal Professionnel (now that’s a mouthful) is a cream hair styler for curls and waves.

What it does: Helps create soft and defined curls and waves with beautiful shine. It’s light enough for fine hair, but holds and revives more stubborn, frizzy curls too. The cream can be used on both wet hair or on dry for reviving the style, and results in shiny, bouncy, pretty hair either way.

Why we love it: If you’ve got fine, curly, frizz-prone hair, your lifelong search is over. This is one of the best curl products we’ve ever found, and the best part is that this ‘elasto cream’ defines and holds our spirals without any of that wet look 80s crunch we hate (but yeah, to each her own).
