Fall leaves, sweatshirts, pumpkin galore, way, way too much political news…all great reasons to crack open a great read a one of our brazen best books. Looking for a new one to take a deep dive into? Here are some Fall book picks for Brazen women we think you’ll love.
Brazen Non-Fiction Books
Girl Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis
Like everyone, I had heard about this book for months. I finally succumbed and… it is fabulous and a must-read or listen for every Brazen Woman. This book offers just the right dose of wisdom with a gentle kick in the derriere.
Tough Truths: The Ten Happiness Lessons We Don’t Talk About by Deirdre Maloney
This wisdom-packed, pragmatic mini-book pokes holes in all excuses we make to stay stuck in unhappiness, and offers a clear and simple prescription to get out of our own way.
Becoming by Michelle Obama
I had the privilege of seeing Michelle Obama earlier this year. I can’t wait to read her memoir as one piece of her advice has stuck with me: Put yourself on your calendar first. Let us all do this!
Thrillers with Brazen Women in ’em
A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult
Only Jodi Picoult could perfectly tackle a shooting at a reproductive health clinic with the associated ramifications and a host of characters. Plan to read this one quickly!
You Were Always Mine by Nicole Baart
This book shows the dark side of adoption and is tense, emotionally charged, and frightening. It twists and turns to a climactic ending, reminiscent of a Liane Moriarty novel.
Great Brazen Fiction Books
The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain
I love all of Chamberlain’s books. Had I read the book description of this one before I read it, I likely would not have read. But luckily I dove in and can safely say- this is one of the top books of 2018. Brilliantly written with a dose of time travel, this book is simply incredible with a totally badass brazen protagonist.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
The political landscape is making many, like me, weary of the news. This book is the perfect antidote to the news. Josh and Hazel are truly just friends. Hazel is zany, quirky but a perfect character. You will laugh out loud throughout this book. Every single brazen woman I know who has read it, loved it!
Master of His Fate by Barbara Taylor Bradford
A new series from Barbara Taylor Bradford? Yes please! The female protagonist is Alexis Malvern, the daughter of a wealthy businessman with no interest in marriage. She’s smart, known for her business acumen and charitable work setting up a safe house for battered women. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
Bittersweet Brooklyn by Thelma Adams
How refreshing to read a book with a loyal brother/sister relationship. Flipping the familiar script of The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and The Godfather, Bittersweet Brooklyn explores the shattering impact of mob violence on the women expected to mop up the mess. Winding its way over decades, this haunting family saga plunges readers into a dangerous past—revealed through the perspective of a forgotten yet vibrant woman.
