You work out (as much as you can). You eat healthy (well, most of the time). You do everything that you can to stay in shape, and yet, there it is. When you look in the mirror, you see one or two stubborn trouble spots that you just can’t seem to eliminate. Maybe it’s a bit of a belly pooch or those spinning-resistant saddlebags that aren’t carrying anything except excess inches or it’s the worst of all horrors—the dreaded muffin top—that’s dragging you down. Sadly, no words can describe how inconvenient that unsexy roll hanging over your favourite jeans can be.
The dream: You can just snap your fingers and SHAZAM! All those annoying fat deposits just disappear. Yes, we know there’s no magic pill to weight loss and we know the real solution is a combo of a good diet and hard work. But wouldn’t it be way more than nice if there was an cure, specially designed for stubborn flab?
Short of invasive surgery, what are our weight loss options?
Because we feel bound to find solutions to your problems, we did some research. And that’s how we came upon Venus Freeze. This product is billed as a non-invasive, pain-free solution for non-surgical body contouring, cellulite treatments, inches reduction and skin tightening for the face, neck, and body. Developed by Venus Concepts, it’s based on their (MP)2 technology. That means the Venus Freeze™ process uses 100% safe Multi-Polar Radio Frequency and proven Magnetic Pulse Therapy to deliver a more contoured silhouette, tighter skin, softer wrinkles, and a more youthful appearance.
What We Think of Venus Freeze
How does it work?
We’re told the thermal magnetic rejuvenation enhances collagen production through a combination of thermal and non-thermal heat. By generating new collagen and elastic fibres, lypolysis (fat burning), and remodelling collagen, skin is tightened and blood supply is renewed.
A conducting gel is applied and the technician rubs a device that looks a bit like the brush head of a vacuum in circles all over your chosen spot. Ten weekly 60-minute sessions are recommended for optimal results, but you might see some tightening after the first treatment. Note: We chose to split our 10 between two areas—stomach and hip (aka the muffins)—for the purposes of this test.
How does it feel?
Kinda nice and warm which is fantastic if you’re a sucker for any kind of pampering. The whole process is pretty relaxing, especially if you have it done at a lovely spa like Doll Face in Toronto. The device does heat up your parts so if you have sensitive skin, you may need a few breaks, and count on some redness afterwards. But it fades quickly and there’s no bruising or sore spots.
The verdict: We’re not sure if it would work for everyone, and Venus Freeze is no substitute for good old diet and exercise. However, we did notice some tightening in the tummy area and our belly button did lift about 1/2 inch. The muffin tops showed a greater improvement but needed more than five sessions, we think, so the jury is still out. We’d say it’s worth giving a shot. If not only for an excuse to lay on a spa table and be forced to relax and do nothing for an entire hour. To learn more and find a provider in your area, log on to VenusConcept.com. Note: Prices vary, so your best bet is to ask. There’s usually a package price, depending on how many locations you want treated and how many sessions you need.
