Muscles on muscles, chemistry you can’t deny, steamy sex scenes. Any one of those ingredients is worth the price of admission but when a movie has all three, it’s worth watching on repeat. At home. In bed. Valentine’s Day may be behind us, but that doesn’t mean your sheets—or your TV—need to cool off.
Looking for some fun this weekend? Do yourself and your relationship a favour and schedule date night in. It’s about time you watched (or rewatched) what we think are the five hottest and sexiest movies of all time.
GET STEAMY: THE SEXIEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME
9 1/2 WEEKS (1986)
Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger sizzle onscreen in this drama about an impersonal affair between a Wall Street businessman and a newly divorced art gallery assistant who is getting to know his kinky tastes. The movie was the 50 Shades of its time, with erotic scenes that include bondage, a three-way and other memorable S&M moments that complicate what may or may not be love.
Warning: You’ll never look at honey the same way again, and every time you hear Joe Cocker’s You Can Leave Your Hat On, you’ll find you have to fight the urge to strip.
THE NOTEBOOK (2004)
Some call this adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel the greatest love story film of all time. A passionate lower-class young man (Ryan Gosling) falls in love with a rich young woman (Rachel McAdams) but is turned away by her parents. The story traces their love through the years, all the way to its tragic end.
Warning: Do not watch without a box of Kleenex. Consider yourself warned.
This sleeper stars Diane Lane as Pearl Kantrowitz, a married mom who heads to summer camp with her family in 1969 only to meet a sexy salesman named Walker Jerome (none other than Viggo Mortensen). Just as man is about to set foot on the moon for the first time, Pearl takes her own unexpected walk on the wild side.
Warning: When Pearl and Walker slip off to Woodstock, they experience a scene they couldn’t have anticipated – and neither can you.
In this Sundance Festival favourite, Edward Grey (James Spader) is an eccentric attorney who hires socially awkward Lee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal) as his secretary. While we can’t prove any relation to Christian of 50 Shades fame, these Grey men definitely share some similarities. The movie explores the Dominant/Submissive relationship with scenes that are even sexy for those who may not be drawn to BDSM.
Warning: Combine hay, a carrot and a saddle and what do you get? You’ll have to watch to find out.
MAGIC MIKE (2012)
Channing Tatum is a male stripper. Joe Manganiello is a stripper, too. That’s pretty much all you need to know. While this film does not contain all that much sex (OK, not nearly enough) and the plot may be thin, the guys definitely are not.
Oh, and PS. There’s a sequel.
Warning: Heads up, men. After your partner sees this movie, you’ll want to head home. Pronto.
