Have you been guzzling wine spritzers non-stop this summer? Are you forcing a slow-down now that back-to-work reality is upon us? Well, here’s some exciting news you may not know: September is National Bourbon Heritage Month. Sure, we love our summer sips, but at this time of year, there’s no contest. This cold bourbon fall cocktail that warms up as it goes down is everything.

There may be stress involved in heading back to reality, but we’re psyched for September to swing into gear anyway. And that’s why we’re celebrating with one of our fave orange drinks. It’s aptly named The Bourbon Back to School and it was lovingly created byJuyoung Kang, lead mixologist for Chef Emeril Lagasse’s Delmonico Steakhouse.

The inspiration for this bold and fruity bourbon cocktail with a spice kick? That’s easy. We can all agree that a little boost is just what the teacher ordered for us grownups right about now.

Plus, bourbon is one drink that may have had “male” roots, but is just as popular among women nowadays. In fact, the stats show that bourbon has really made a comeback. According to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, in just the last year alone, the bourbon industry generated more than $3.1 billion in revenue. That’s 35.6% growth in case volume, and 50.5% growth in revenue, over the past five years, so yeah, it’s time to take a fresh look at an old classic.

So here it is: A new autumn twist on Autumnal on the classic whisky sour.
