Of course, I’m all for a reboot every now and then, but how exactly does a cleanse work? And how can we get through it without cheating when no one’s looking or worse, starving half to death?

1. Prepare in advance.
Don’t just cut all kinds of random food out of your diet. You will be more likely to stay on track if you have a plan in place before you begin your cleanse.
2. Purify your pantry.
Your cleanse starts at home—in the kitchen. Throw out the bad and make room for the good then start filling the fridge and pantry with choices you know fit your diet.
3. Get yourself an accountability buddy.
Find someone who will support you, or better yet, who will do the cleanse with you. That’s what friends are for, right?
4. Track your progress.
Keep track of how you feel along your cleanse journey. You want this experience to be a positive one. Progress toward your health goals is the best motivator for continuing your cleanse.
5. Don’t crash diet.
Quick fix diets don’t work. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Instead, focus on cleansing by eating foods that fuel your body naturally.
6. Keep it natural.
